We can't even remember why we booked to go to India. We have a list of places we want to visit and we can honestly say that India was a long way down on that list.
But before we knew it we were landing in crazy Delhi, ready to start looking around a land that we didn't have many preconceived ideas about. We were pretty sure we knew we were going to see a wonder of the world and we were fairly confident that at least one of us was going to get pretty sick with Delhi belly. In the end, one of the above eventuated. |
FortsWe experienced three amazing forts.
One was the Jaisalmer - unique because 3000 people reside there. Being almost 900 years old, it's beautiful carved rock makes it truly spectacular. Mehrangarh is a magnificent fort in Jodhpur. High above the town, it shows all the scars of war, The 3rd fort we visited was the Amber Fort in Jaipur. Too many tourists, but I guess we were tourists too. |
How fat can one get on a two week jaunt to India?
Before leaving for the sub-continent, we were warned continuously about how we would get food poisoning. Subsequently we bought two packets of Imodium and a couple packs of electrolytes. Ruth was told by a chemist to get a script for antibiotics for bacterial gastro (but she didn't get around to it). Well, what a waste of time and money. We ate and ate and ate our way around Rajasthan. We ate from restaurants and hotels and from the odd 'hole in a wall'. We ate eggs and meat. So the Aarons' came home from India bigger than when we left and certainly richer for the experience of trying so many good foods. |
