Charlie started his 8th Birthday with some lovely presents from his family including from Nei Nei and Auntie Lisa.
He then headed off to Lego Brain with his friends, followed by a dance, cake and sleepover. The b'day concluded with a recovery session at Mekong merchant. What a lovely time for him and his friends anyway. For those sharing the backseat of a taxi with 5 boys - not quite as exciting. For a slightly better quality video of the day, follow the link here. |
Saigon Souvenir - Nov 2What do you do when you've been in Saigon for a while and want a memory that won't gather dust on the mantelpiece? Well, you ask your friend to accompany you to a tattoo parlor and get him to tattoo you. The picture here is of Ben Armstrong getting his tattoo from Michael Clarke (who can draw but isn't a tattoo artist). Clarkey took 5 minutes to put the gloves on - an indication of the inebriated state he was in - but Ben wasn't perturbed. Apparently the tat looks good but Ben isn't showing anyone at present.

Excursion to D7 - Nov 1There are lots of good Korean restaurants in D7. Galbi Ji Zon is an excellent Korean BBQ place.

Sun Lunch at Riverside - Nov 3Great to catch up with Leaith and Rich who were visiting from their new abode in Bangkok. It was lovely to sit around and chat while the kids swam for 4 hours - prunes. A lost diamond earring was found in the pool by Charlie and Violet. Great spotting.

Daniel and Louise's Farewell - June 15thLots of people leave at this time of the year and there are tonnes of parties to go to.
This was a great one. It started at “The Boat House”with a nice lunch. Then we were divided into three teams and we had a trip around Saigon looking for picture opportunities. Excellent fun. Pictures that had to be taken included: The group sitting in a movie theatre Posing with a manikin Cross dressing Getting into a sports car Pouring a beer Selling a coconut to a tourist |
The Mighty Saigon Cement - 19th April |
A great way to celebrate being a "Saigoner" is to support our local football team. The mighty cement play like their name suggests. We watched them go down 3-1 to some dodgy regional team. Charlie was very sad but Roma switched her allegiance once the other team had scored so she was happy wth the score.
