Jo and Paul are making a (good) habit of visiting us in each country we live in. So, we trained it down to Shanghai to meet them. A look around The Bund followed by a drink at our favourite Shanghai roof-top bar (well, the only roof top bar, we've ever been to) and a trip to M & M World.
We also made our way to a small park near East Nanjing Street where we came across a collection of parents who have set up an umbrella with details of their unmarried children. Details include their child's name, age, height, level of studies, occupation, hobbies. Basically they are trying to match-make their kids - without their kids' blessings of course. |
A final farewell was organised for Pete and Kevin (by Pete, because the rest of us just didn't get around to it). Friday night, 4 of us went down to experience the nightlife of Shanghai. The crazy funsters that we were, we were back in the hotel about 10:30pm. Sat morning saw us walking around Shanghai looking for a golf zon. In the end we went to a movie and then headed back to pick up the other 5. We checked aout a bizarre underground bunker where we shot pistols, arrows and played pool. Strange. Then it was off to dinner and then ..... everyone went back to the hotel. Age shall not wary us. Oh, hold on a minute. Yes it can.

Party SeasonSo, we are heading towards the end of the school year. This means that every spare moment is spent celebrating something with someone. May 21st saw Roma head to her good friend Lila's for her 9th birthday. Jane and Lach went all out this year with the craziness - moustache's on sticks, doughnuts on string, silly faces on crazy kids... Much fun for everyone!

The diamond league cam e to town (well, Shanghai town) and one of the teachers arranged a bus and tickets. Roma and I decided to get down and check it out together with a very eclectic bunch of expats. A couple hours of having something to eat at bar street and an annoying 2 hours waiting for the gates to open (when the meet and already started) passed and we got to enjoy some great athletics. Some Olympic gold medalists and world record holders were on show. And great seats too. |
School Activities in April & MayA fun couple of months at school. Lots of different activities. Charlie had a day out as Gandhi in "The Living Museum". Charlie also produced some cool art and played some golf during PE. I managed to score a supervisory role at the Spring Fling. Even the Ayis got into it. The shoes were part of a student's Personal Project. I bought them off him. Not the sort of thing you'd wear in Ipswich, but fine for Oxford St. And we got a 2nd International Family Day done and dusted. Ruth worked the Australian stall selling sausages and I had bloody big wet sponges thrown at me. A good day.

Charlie had to wait over two years. His 7th tooth came out at the end of 2013. Poor guy only had 7 out of 8 front teeth. Who knows why?
So imagine Charlie's surprise when a tooth pops out of his mouth and he didn't even know it was loose, Granted the little peg next door was a wobbly little sucker, but 8 wasn't even on the horizon. Not to be outdone, 9 pooped out two days later. Tooth fairy visits Suzhou, So all is good in the world. |
